The End of an Era: Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine
I’m very sad to report that the next issue of Smartphone and Pocket PC Magazine will be the last, at least for a while. According to this blog post, the publisher has had to suspend the publication, citing slow circulation growth and lack of advertising sponsorship. Hal Goldstein promises that the last issue will be a real “keeper” and it will also include the results of the 2008 Best Software Awards.
The company will soon be publishing a series of special issues of iPhone Life, and you can subscribe to all issues through 2010 for just $25. A special $19.95 Knowledge Bundle is also available, for those who aren’t already Smartphone and Pocket PC Magazine subscribers; it includes the final Resource Guide issue, How-to Guide, 20 Special downloadable Reports, 15% off Handango software through December 31, 2008, at least 3 2008 back issues, our How-to Guide, and the premier iPhone Life.

Happy 7th Birthday, PocketGoddess!
This post is actually a few days late, because we’ve been very busy behind the scenes. We’re currently working on a complete site redesign that I was hoping to roll out in time for the seventh anniversary of the site, but the project is taking longer than anticipated.
Of couse the good news is that you now have even more to anticipate in the future—my hope is that PocketGoddess.com will be around for many more years. Enjoy!

Pump It Up at Play-Asia for Pennies
Have a Sony PSP? Enjoy playing bemani/music games? Then run, don’t walk over to Play-Asia right now.
For one week only, they’re offering Pump It Up EXCEED and Pump It Up Zero for $19.90 for both games, not just one. This is a fantastic value for two excellent games—I’ve spent many hours with each of them, honing my skills and listening to some killer dance music. Don’t let this one pass you by; at this price it would be an excellent introduction to the music genre. Remember, any Sony PSP can play games from any region!

It’s U810 Week at PocketGoddess.com!
Yesterday I posted my review of the Fujitsu U810, the mini-laptop that fits the full Windows Vista or XP experience into a package half the size of a traditional laptop. You can read it here.
The rest of the week will be devoted to reviews of two carrying options for the U810, the R.A.P.S Advanced System Protection Wrap from Skooba Design and the Travel Case from Waterfield Designs.

Spring Cleaning Redux
I’m a firm believer in Spring cleaning, whether we’re talking about your closet, your windows, or your electronic devices. I’ve published articles about the topic in the past, and recently one of my Mobius friends posted one on his site. Click here to check out his tips. They go beyond handhelds to discuss how to clean out your laptop and even your email inbox, so they’re definitely worth a read.

Friday Gaming Update
Lots of exiting releases the last couple of weeks, especially if you’re a handheld gamer.
Patapon: If you haven’t already picked up this game and you have a PSP, go out and get it RIGHT NOW. It’s hard to explain in a short blurb, but this strategy/rhythm/action game is amazingly addictive and deeply satisfying. I can’t seem to put it down, and I’m guessing you might end up feeling the same way. If I haven’t convinced you, there’s a free demo available at the Playstation Network store, so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
God of War: Chains of Olympus: The reviews are in, and they’re overwhelmingly positive. If you’re a fan of the console action series, you can now continue the adventure on your PSP.If you don’t have a PSP yet, there’s also a special Godof War bundle that includes a red PSP and a copy of the game.
Space Invaders Extreme: The game isn’t due until mid-June, but I’m already very excited about this title, thanks to the demo available now at PSP Fanboy. The music is awesome, and the gameplay is modern and cool while staying true to the original . Expect to face new challenges (including boss fights!), plus integration of cool gameplay elements from other arcade classics like Galaga and Breakout.
Flow: PS3 owners have been playing Flow for quite a while, but it was just released on the Playstation Network store yesterday for PSP owners. The concept is cool, and good for those mellow times that you’d like some entertainment but don’t really want to work yourself up to play a “real” game. I haven’t spent too much time with it yet, but it has a nicely calm and ethereal atmosphere.
Disney Friends: I spent some time with this Nintendo DS demo at my local game store and like the exploration aspects and the gameply variety. This title should be fun for the younger set; think of a cross between Animal Crossing and Nintendogs, but with a Disney state of mind.

The Party’s Over!
It has been a long time indeed since I posted anything here at the site; I decided to take a much-needed rest for the holidays, and I’m now rested and ready to clear out the review backlog. Expect to see reviews for the Fujitsu U810 and the iPod Touch in the very near future, along with a bevy of accessories and other cool stuff.
I also am clearing out the closet and have some great stuff to pass along to good homes. Use the Contact link on the left hand side of the site to request a list; highlights include a Palm LifeDrive, Sony PSP, and lots of other goodies.
I hope that all of you had a blessed and warm holiday season, that Santa was good to you and yours, and that you haven’t broken all of your New Year’s resolutions—at least not yet!
